Given the quality of our program, dozens of participants from the UK, Australia and the United States have been able to earn independent academic credit through their University at our project. Nevertheless, gaining academic credit is not a requirement to participate in our program. Each Expedition is built around six to eight hours a day of learning opportunities. Through field research, conservation activities, meetings and group discussions we will cover a whole range of valuable educational topics. Students that do not receive academic credit recognition can still show proof of this course in their resume and experience, which we can confirm has been a great deal for opportunities seeking, such as jobs, internships and graduate program applications.
These past years students from several universities have been approved academic credit after fulfilling all BIOMA course prerequisites and syllabus requirements: UC Santa Bárbara (Environmental Studies, Internship Credit), UC San Diego (Biology Majors), ASU-Arizona State University, (Life Sciences), U Berkeley (School of Natural Resources, Field Study and Internship Units), CSUM-California State University Monterrey (Environmental Studies), UC Davis (Internship Credit & Marine Conservation), CSU Fullerton (Graduate Independent Environmental Research), CSU Channel Islands (ENV Science).
Other students interested in gaining academic credit, please talk to your academic advisor for instructions using our syllabus as a reference or baseline. Please follow up with us for further information and support. Students are responsible for confirming in advance with their administration that our syllabus and program could count to either internship, independent studies or a specific course within their curriculum towards specific major or university requirements. BIOMA will provide with a Formal Certificate of participation and a Transcript.
BIOMA field academic credit is a subcomponent of our educational program, which includes several field work assessments by BIOMA instructors. Because of the above and the certifications provided to students, there is an academic credit fee of USD$175 to be paid in the link at the end of this page.
